Poetic Thought: Through the eyes of a child

Hey people,i trust you week has been great.I skipped 'Poetic Thursdays' yesterday to respond to the BBC booklist i was tagged on and so to make up,i am putting up this poem for your sole enjoyment just to compensate for missing Poetic Thursdays.Read on,enjoy, comment, share but don't copyright.LOL

The world has changed. It's as if we're journeying to our own destruction. The funny thing is we quest for a better life, advancement and all,but we somehow are going in the opposite direction.Have you read the news lately? You rarely see anything good or watch anything good on TV.It's one disaster or another, one pain, scary, disheartening news or another. At a point i even stopped reading newspapers cos i was tired of all that was on the news. The things happening in the world gave birth to this poem.Again, read, enjoy and share if you will.

Through the eyes of a child

I woke up this morning
I didn't want to leave my bed
The world is different
Bloodshed
Hatred
Fear
Anger
Apathy
Disaster
We invited them all
We called them from their slumber
Maybe i should look differently
Because from one end of the world to the other
The sight is heart breaking
So i will look at the world through the eyes of a child
Where my biggest problem is what to eat
Who to play with
What to play with
My next fascination
Where there's laughter
Where i am the center of attention
Mother's love
Father's love
Brother's love
Sister's love
Everybody's love
I have chosen to look at the world through the eyes of a child
That way life is beautiful
Through the eyes of a child
Everyone is good
Everyone is a friend
Not someone to be looked at with suspicion
Or someone to be hated
I choose to look at the world through the eyes of a child
At least for a today
That way i know life would be beautiful

  1. Happy new year dear one. I am with you, i don't know what the world is turning into. All we hear is shooting, killing, poising... I am done trying to understand the world we live in. I take each day one step at a time and ask God to guide my steps. Tomorrow is not promised.

  2. Very nice. We sure invited all the chaos in with our greed and selfishness. There's so much to learn from seeing things through the eyes of a child. May God give us the grace to see through the eyes of a child and know that it's all vanity upon vanity.

  5. We live in a world where being happy doesn't come naturally anymore, it is now a conscious decision we have to make on our own. How sad?

    1. We shouldn't even begin to try to understand the world as it is now.

  8. The eyes of a child are the eyes of faith, not the eyes of escapism... Faith doesn't deny the existence of reality but through God's word lives a higher reality. The escapist will only fantasize but still stands face to face with the harsh reality of the day. Nice one...

  10. We all need the eyes of a child to truly look at things so that we can view life from a better perspective irrespective of the terrible things going on everyday.

    Nice thought provoking piece.
